Mr. Sailesh Chimanlal Mehta is the Chairman and Managing Director of Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (DFPCL), one of India’s leading manufacturers of fertilisers and industrial chemicals. With over three decades of association with the company, Mr. Mehta has been instrumental in transforming DFPCL into a diversified, multi-product conglomerate with operations across fertilisers, mining chemicals, and industrial chemicals. The company operates in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana.
Mr. Mehta began his journey at DFPCL as Managing Director in 2002, later becoming Vice Chairman in 2005, and Chairman in October 2012. Under his visionary leadership, the company has achieved significant milestones in business growth, operational excellence, and strategic diversification.
He restructured DFPCL’s Crop Nutrition Business into a wholly owned subsidiary—Mahadhan AgriTech Limited (MAL). MAL now offers 48 specialised crop nutrients, including crop-specific NPK and water-soluble fertilisers. Having crossed the milestone of one million tonnes of fertiliser sales, MAL is positively impacting the lives of five million farmers.
Mr. Mehta is recognised as a thought leader in the Indian agri-business sector, credited for pioneering contributions to crop nutrition management and farm economics. He has served as Chairman of the Western Region of the Fertilizer Association of India (FAI) for five years and maintains an active engagement with the International Fertilizer Association. He has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Udyog Rattan Award in 2020, conferred by the Institute of Economic Studies for his outstanding contribution to Indian industry.
In recognition of his global leadership, Mr. Mehta was also awarded a Professional Doctoral Certificate in Global Leadership & Management by the European International University.
He holds a management degree from the University of Texas, USA, bringing a global perspective along with deep sectoral knowledge to his role at DFPCL.
