Membership
FAI has 1317 members in India and overseas comprising of Manufacturers, Professionals, Technocrats etc. FAI members are involved in all activities related to the production and distribution of plant nutrients, their raw materials and intermediates. |Categories| |Eligibility| |Entrance Fee| |Subscription| Category and Eligibility of Membership There are four categories of Membership in FAI. 1. Active
The first three categories are corporate
Members and the 4th category is Individual Member.
1. Active Members Any person, firm, company or corporation who is engaged in (a) the manufacture of fertilisers in India or (b) the importation of fertilisers and/or in the distribution of imported fertilisers of any kind in India in quantities not less than 50,000 tonnes per year, shall be eligible as an Active member of the Association. 2. Associate Members Any person, firm, company corporation or association in India who is (a) a fertiliser distributor or dealer (b) a manufacturer or supplier of fertiliser plants, equipment or appliances or of materials used in fertiliser manufacture; or (c) engaged in the design and construction of fertiliser plants, equipment or appliances or (d) a manufacturer of agricultural chemicals; or (e) a producer of certified seeds, or (f) interested in or concerned with fertilisers
or agricultural production,
Provided that - (i) A person, firm, company, corporation or association engaged in the manufacture of fertilisers and as such eligible for being an Active member under Article 5 may be enrolled as Associate Member by the Board of Directors on the stipulated undertaking that such member will convert its membership to Active on the expiry of two years from the date of its commercial production or when its production reaches 50 per cent of its rated capacity during a year *(FAI's financial year - April/March), whichever is earlier. (ii) a person, firm, company, corporation or association which is otherwise eligible to be an Associate Member under this Article, shall not be admitted to be an Associate Member, if such person, firm, company, corporation or association is an associate subsidiary or agent of a person, firm, company, corporation or association which is eligible to be admitted as an Active Member but is not an Active Member of the Association. 3. Overseas Associate Member Any person, firm, company, corporation or association outside India and not having an office or branch in India , who is engaged in business connected with fertilisers or fertiliser raw materials or fertiliser plants and equipment shall be eligible as an Overseas Associate Member. 4. Technical & Professional Associate Member Any person having a professional or technical
qualification in agricultural or related sciences shall be eligible as
Technical and Professional Associate Member of the Association.
Each candidate for election as an Active Member shall pay an entrance fee of Rs. 2000. Each candidate for election as an Associate Member shall pay an entrance of Rs. 500. Overseas Associate Members and Technical and Professional Associate Members shall not be required to pay entrance fee: Provided that an Association Member who
shall apply to be converted and admitted as an Active Member under Proviso
(ii) to Article 6 (a) hereof, shall pay an entrance fee of Rs. 1500/- for
admission as an Active Member.
Membership Subscription for the year 2007-08 (April/March) The rates of subscription are as under: Active (a)
Rs. 5.00 per tonne of nutrient sold subject to a monetary ceiling as below.
i) Rs. 1.67 per tonne of nutrient sold up to 5000 tonnes and ii) Rs. 5/- per tonne of nutrient sold on the incremental quantity beyond 5000 tonnes per annum. d) Notwithstanding
