Rio Tinto Borax

Rio Tinto Borax mines one of the world’s largest borate deposits, located in California’s Mojave Desert. The company supplies nearly half the world’s demand for refined borates and offers customers unparalleled product quality, technical support and supply reliability.

Micronutrient Boron

Boron is one of seven essential micronutrients for plants. Although boron is necessary for normal growth and fruiting, it is also the micronutrient most often identified as deficient in agricultural crops.Depending on soil type, crop, management level and application method, typical boron requirements range from 1-2 kilograms per hectare per year.

Regular soil testing and plant tissue analysis help determine the need for boron. Annual applications of boron are required to offset losses from crop removal and leaching. Crops deficient in boron cannot produce to their full potential – yields and quality usually suffer.

Boron in Indian Agriculture

Research carried out by ICAR, state agricultural universities and many other research institutes clearly shows that Indian soils are deficient in boron. Crops affected include rice, wheat, maize, sunflower, rapeseed, chickpea, groundnut, mustard, sugar caneand many fruit and vegetable crops.
