FAI AWARDS 2005
FAI was established on 27th May, 1955. It has completed its 50 years of existence and is celebrating its Golden Jubilee in 2005. The following awards have been instituted to commemorate its Golden Jubilee.
FAI Golden Jubilee Awards
1. Award for Excellence for the Best Work done in the field of “Micro-irrigation Systems”
Nature of Award: Rs.20,000/-, Gold Medal and Citation.
Purpose of the Award: To create incentive for high quality fundamental or applied research in India in the field of micro-irrigation.
Eligibility of the Award: Organisations / scientists / experts working in India are eligible for the award. The assessment shall be based on their published work during the past 10 years preceding the year of the award.
How to apply: Applications are to be submitted through proper channel by 31 July, 2005 along with six copies of synopsis and published literature / papers.
2. Award for Outstanding Doctoral Research in Fertiliser Usage
Nature of Award: Rs.20,000/-, Gold Medal and Citation.
Purpose of the Award: To motivate high quality fundamental or applied research amongst doctoral students in India in the field of fertiliser usage.
Eligibility of the Award: All doctoral students in India whose thesis have been accepted for the Ph.D. degree during April 2004 to March 2005 are eligible for the award.
How to Apply: Applications are to be submitted through proper channel as per the prescribed form available from the FAI or downloaded from the website (www.faidelhi.org). One copy of the thesis and six copies of the detailed summary along with the application are to be submitted by 31 July, 2005. The copy of the thesis shall be retained by the Association in the case of award winning candidate only.
3. Award on Transfer of Improved Farm Technologies
Nature of Award: Plaque and Certificate.
Purpose of the Award: To encourage and recognise innovative work on Transfer of Improved Farm Technology.
Eligibility of the Award: All fertiliser companies in India are eligible for the award. The assessment would be based on innovative work done in the field of Transfer of Improved Farm Technology during the past five years preceding the year of award.
How to Apply: Applications are to be submitted by 31 July, 2005 enclosing six copies of synopsis along with six sets of printed literature on the innovative work done during the last five years.

4. PPIC-FAI Award for Best Research on Management and Balanced Use of Inputs in Achieving Maximum Yield (Biennial)
Nature of the Award: Rs.10,000/-, Gold Medal and Citation instituted by the Potash and Phosphate Institute of Canada (PPIC) and administered by The Fertiliser Association of India.
Purpose of the Award: To encourage and recognise outstanding fundamental or applied research work done on Management and Balanced Use of Inputs.
Eligibility of the Award: All Scientists / Experts working in India are eligible for the award. The assessment shall be based on their published work during the past 10 years preceding the year of award.
How to Apply: Six copies of the publications through Head of Institution / Organisation along with six copies of synopsis (500 words) precisely enumerating the work done and its relevance to the objective of the award are to be submitted by 30 June, 2006.
5. TSI-FAI Award on Plant Nutrient Sulphur (Biennial)
Nature of the Award: Rs.13,000/-, Gold Medal and Citation instituted by The Sulphur Institute (TSI), Washington D.C. and administered by The Fertiliser Association of India.
Purpose of the Award: To encourage and recognise outstanding fundamental or applied research work done on Plant Nutrient Sulphur.
Eligibility of the Award: All Scientists / Experts working in India are eligible for the award. The assessment shall be based on their published work during the past 10 years preceding the year of award.
How to Apply: Six copies of the publications through Head of Institution / Organisation along with six copies of synopsis (500 words) precisely enumerating the work they have done and its relevance to the objective of the award are to be submitted by 30 June, 2006.
6. IPI-FAI Award on Effect of Potash on Yield and Quality of Crops
Nature of the Award: Rs.15,000/-, Gold Medal and Citation instituted by the International Potash Institute (IPI), Basel, Switzerland and administered by The Fertiliser Association of India.
Purpose of the Award: To encourage and recognise outstanding fundamental or applied research work done on Potash.
Eligibility of the Award: All Scientists / Experts working in India are eligible for the award. The assessment shall be based on their published work during the past 10 years preceding the year of award.
How to Apply: Six copies of the publications through Head of Institution / Organisation along with six copies of synopsis (500 words) precisely enumerating the work they have done and its relevance to the objective of the award are to be submitted by 31 July, 2005.
7. IMPHOS-FAI Award on Role of Phosphorus on Yield and Quality of Crops
Nature of the Award: Rs.15,000/-, Gold Medal and Citation instituted by the World Phosphate Institute (IMPHOS), Casablanca, Morocco and administered by The Fertiliser Association of India.
Purpose of the Award: To encourage and recognise outstanding fundamental or applied research work done on Phosphorus.
Eligibility of the Award: All Scientists / Experts working in India are eligible for the award. The assessment shall be based on their published work during the past 10 years preceding the year of award.
How to Apply: Six copies of the publications through Head of Institution / Organisation along with six copies of synopsis (500 words) precisely enumerating the work they have done and its relevance to the objective of the award are to be submitted by 31 July, 2005.
8. Award on Production, Promotion and Marketing of Biofertiliser
Nature of the Award: Rs.15,000/-, Plaque and certificate sponsored by the National Fertilisers Ltd. to commemorate its Silver Jubilee year and administered by the Fertiliser Association of India.
Purpose of the Award: To encourage and recognise quality production, promotion and marketing of biofertiliser.
Eligibility of the Award: All biofertiliser producing companies in India are eligible for the award. The assessment shall be based on the information supplied by the company on the prescribed proforma provided by the FAI.
How to Apply: Six copies of completely filled in proforma are to be submitted to FAI by 31 July, 2005. Interested company may kindly contact FAI or visit the website (www.faidelhi.org) for the prescribed proforma to furnish the necessary information for the award.
Note:
Except for award at S.No. 2 & 8:
(i) There is no prescribed application format for the awards
(ii) The best 10 papers published in reputed journals should be only submitted.
(iii) The practical utility of the research work should be prominently highlighted in the synopsis.
(iv) The research work which won any of these awards in the last 10 years should not be submitted again for the above awards.
(v) It may be noted that minimum of three entries is essential for consideration of all the awards.
For all awards:
A scientific paper based on the research work, prepared for its publication in the Indian Journal of Fertilisers (formerly Fertiliser News), should be also submitted along with the application. The paper of the award winning candidate may be considered for publication in Indian Journal of Fertilisers.
